General Interest

Sacramone earned two silver medals at the 2006 World Championships in team and vault competition. She also won the floor exercise title at the 2005 World Championships, as well as finished third in the vault. Earlier in 2005, she became the U.S. National champion on vault and floor exercise and was named USA Gymnastics' Sportswoman of the Year. Her 9.9 for her final floor routine at the Visa Championships was the first time a score of 9.9 or better had been awarded in the women's division at a U.S. Nationals since 1996. In 2004, she qualified for the World Cup Final as a wild card after placing first on vault at the Pacific Alliance and second at the World Cup in Ghent. She went on to win the vault gold medal at the World Cup Final ahead of the reigning Olympic gold and bronze medalists. Sacramone is the daughter of Fred, an orthodontist, and Gail, a salon owner. She has one older brother, Jonathan. Sacramone is a sophomore at Brown University and was a member of the Brown gymnastics team during her freshman year. Alicia is interested in becoming a fashion designer. She says her parents are her role models because they have taught her that hard work brings rewards.
